Cookies

Cookies are pieces of information that are transferred to the cookie file on your computer’s hard drive.  They enable you to navigate around our site and enable us to provide you with a more personalised service.

Our site collects data using cookies which allows us to recognise you, your preferences and how you use our site.  This information is collected by using temporary ‘session cookies’ which are small strings of data stored in your computer until you close your browser, at which point they are deleted.

Cookies are also used as timestamps to ensure that the session between you and the server is restricted to a specific length of time. For example, if you enter your user name and password to access the secure site, you will need to be authenticated.  Once authenticated, the server puts a cookie on your hard drive with a timestamp of, for example, four minutes. When you request to go to another secure page within the site, the server will query the cookie to see if the session has timed out yet.

The web browsers of most computers are initially set up to accept cookies. If you prefer, you can set your web browser to disable cookies or to inform you when a website is attempting to add a cookie. You can also delete cookies that have previously been added to your computer’s cookie file.

You can set your browser to disable persistent cookies and/or session cookies but if you disable session cookies, although you will be able to view our public unsecured site, you will not be able to log onto any secure pages on our site.
